      1. Gun Crimes and easy acquiring of weapons, something that is based on a constitution written by cowboys, for which it was applicable.

        1. Fairfax Virginia has the highest private weapons percentage in the world and is also one of the safest. You’re a f****** ***

    1. Yup Afghanistan is in real danger and the people are facing real threat, no life they are struggling for life. They need mercy, Every country should respect the sovereignty, but in Afghanistan American’s did real injustice with the citizen’s. Now Taliban and American army is fighting with each other, due to which thousand of innocent people are losing their lives. Is this fair ?

      1. you guys are such liars…. you shall be condemned to eternal damnation. back your statements with statistics from credible sources

    1. Karachi is not at number one position because of current ranger operation in the city the condition of this city is approve little bit.

  1. I dont think this is right… Caracas, Venezuela is one of the most dangerous city in the world. It’s about #3 in some lists

  2. What is going on with folks now and days? We all have our own individual problems that we need to deal with. I pray for all that is involved. Chicago, IL is a war zone right now. God will bring a end to all this madness soon.

crazy. We are living in Revelations. Luke 21:9 referring to events preceding the Coming of the Messiah, “Nation will fight against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes and plagues and famines here and there; there will be fearful sights and great signs from Heaven.” People hearts will grow cold and callous. People will become unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossipers, without self control, brutal, haters, irreconcilable, lovers of themselves, without self-control and slanderous.

    1. You must have a very liberal view of what a war zone is if you think Chicago’s one.

Another example of somebody letting hyperbole form a viewpoint instead of using their head.

  3. Why did you say there is no safe place for tourists in Nairobi. My brother has to visit there and I am concerned due to high crime rate.

    1. Trust me Nairobi is generally a very safe city. As safe as an average city anywhere in the world in the world. It sure has it bad sides but I’m sure your bro will not be anywhere near there.

  4. I would love to know what the author of this used as a measurement/yardstick. Not a single city in the US on the list? Iran, Syria, Afghanistan do not even feature. Where has the author been in 2013? Cities like Cape Town and Nairobi making the list?

This is an extremely slanted perception and I believe way off target and not grounded upon any form of facts. One has to wonder, what motivates someone to write such drivel?

    Money? Drugs? On drugs?

  5. This entire list is rubbish. Johannesburg for one is more dangerous than Cape Town, and not on the list. Cape Town is not dangerous at all, I’ve been there numerous times.

    1. Here i am totally disagree with you that Cape Town is a safe place. Robberies, thefts and many crimes are on their peak in this city. Murder rate is also too much high in this city.

      1. I’d rather be dropped in Cape Town than Mogadishu… or Joburg for that matter (where my partner drove several rounds around the block before he dared opening the gates to enter his moms place because of a random car behind us … just in case.)

    2. I live in Cape Town and have done so for the last 25 years,
I wouldn’t walk around the city center at night , I would avoid the townships and trains , I wouldn’t dress like a tourist when exploring te city in case you get mugged , I would avoid alley ways inthe city , I would stick to the more popular beaches to avoid getting mugged. I wouldn’t go for a swim though because the water is too cold and it has the highest concentration of great white sharks in the world , if u r in to drugs , it’s a gr8 place because most drugs are easy to get , restaurants r cheap , accomodation is cheap , gangsterism is rife in Cape Town

    3. Johannesburg is the definition of overrated, it has no business being on here. Cape Town’s twice as dangerous.

Then again, I can’t help but laugh when I see Cape Town listed directly ahead of obviously more dangerous cities. Acapulco, Tegucigalpa (“Distrito Central”) and Mogadishu are very easily more dangerous than Johannesburg or Cape Town.

  6. Nairobi No. 3?????? Are you Stupid or a Foolish Unprofessional Blogger who has no idea where Nairobi is Located in the World?? that Avatar is For 2007 PEV yet you use it, Nairobi is Bad but no Bad Enough to be Even in top 100

    1. Maybe you are right, but all the data we collected from different reliable resources, which means that this one is dangerous enough to be in this list.

    1. Listen karue dangerous countries does not mean that they are dangerous just because of high murder rate stats of that city. Dangerous countries are ranked on the basis of many crimes like street crimes, robberies, kidnappings , rape, murders and many other. Be neutral and check lists of some reliable source . Thanks

  7. Wow UK is not included. It is the most dangerous country in Europe . I live here and raised and also lived in new york . Whilst in new york i have never had a problem , here in UK i have been mugged in London twice , and once in Manchester with grevious bodily harm.
London is one of the most dangerous places . I know i have been a victim oh and i have walked at 3am though downtown cape town . nothing happened.

  8. You must be kidding!!!!. I wonder if the person wrote this piece ever visted to Abidjan and if so when. Greetings from a happy expat in Abidjan

  9. What the hell did the person who wrote this article smoke?! Cape Town…are you kidding me?! I am a South African and I can promise you that Cape Town is dangerous, but not nearly as dangerous as Johannesburg. If I had to choose between recommending Cape Town or recommending Johannesburg to a tourist, I will certainly recommend Cape Town above Johannesburg.

    1. Cape Town is included in this list because of their street crimes and theft. People dies in robberies and this is the fact.

  10. You cannot even use proper grammar!!!!! The only crime in Cape Town that stands out is the murder rate between gangsters….

  11. PEOPLE….IF THIS IS ALLOWED TO BE POSTED AND VIEWED then I will recommend you go research crime rates on wikipedia…FACTS….

  12. Yes and like wikipedia, Anyone can write a list like this as well..seeing that you provide no stats to prove your findings.haha there’s no way that cape town is more dangerous than joburg!

  13. Please supply the source of your data.

Since with all due respect, you can’t even begin
to compare cities in war torn countries with other
cities. Since in a Baghdad, Iraq are all muggings and
robberies going to be reported to the local police?

Since what you are saying is that it is more dangerous
to live in Cape Town than Baghdad, Kabul or even Bangui (CAR).
Maybe if we have the source of your statistics (website or something),
we will also come to the same conclusions.

  14. Hey I’m from Cape Town and anyone who claims that it is one of the most dangerous places in the world clearly hasn’t been there. Sure there are places that you should avoid (just like anywhere else), but these are the vast minority. If it weren’t safe it would never have made it to the NY Times (an actual reputable source, unlike the top 10 lists) number one destination in the world.

  15. I do not think that you have a clue what you are talking about mr. author…. I live in Kenya and can tell you that it is no more dangerous than any other large city in the world, I think your views on reality are warpped… have you every visited any of these cities? I have been to south Africa cape town is safe compared to say jo burg… where on earth did you pull this from? Shoddy work at best…

  16. Uhhh… there is something very wrong with this article… Especially the math regarding Venezuela…
You say there have been 804 homicides registered last year, but go on to say that there have been “over 71.74 murders per capita.” Since “per capita”= “per person,” that means that each of the 1,120,718 residents would have committed an average or around 72 murders last year . Even if each person in the city committed ONE murder, the city would be virtually empty. Let’s pretend you meant to say 72 murders per 100,000 residents and move on… You then say that there were “57 murders daily.” That would amount to over 20,000 murders…. PLEASE, get your facts straight

  17. What is wrong with human beings? To treat each other with such disdain and lack of common respect for human life, is truly shameful. Humans need to evolve beyond this petty emotional needs and realize we all share this experience and earth together.

  18. However wrote this article has no idea what they are talking about… Cape Town number 4?! Dream on! I have lived in many places in South Africa and Cape Town is by far the safest. I currently reside in London where I have witnessed a murder, been mugged, friends have been robbed, mugged, car jacked and physically assaulted. I have seen more crime directly here then I ever did in Cape Town. Very very in accurate article.

  19. Sana’a was a good choice.

Well done for not putting Johannesburg or Chicago on here (thank God), Cape Town has a much higher murder rate than both of them [fact] and it’s still nowhere near the highest on the list. You got your facts sorted before the hype in that case, that’s for sure.

However, I have to agree with some of the missing cities. You have to have a Syrian city on here though it’s not just this list.

I’m actually amazed at how often Syrian cities are missing from most dangerous lists since the civil war started there. Nearly all of them made since March 2011 don’t feature a Syrian city. Can’t quite figure that out when they’re obviously the most dangerous in the world.

    Others that could feature:

    Maiduguri, Nigeria
    Benghazi, Libya
    Baghdad, Iraq
    Bangui, Central African Republic

Are you making a 2014 list?

  21. To much haterd, people hate so much which creates mad dogs and much violence

Who shall we hold responsible UN, USA, UK or the leaders of these countries?

They are better of posting countries that HATE.

like posting countries that only protect there own because they hate foreign people, which countries do you need a visa to enter?
